2.3. Start Caryoscope

Caryoscope is started from a link on the Getting Caryoscope page. Just click on the link saying "Run Caryoscope now!". This link is regularly updated, so you can always be sure you are running the latest version of Caryoscope.

Note that, the first time you run any given version of Caryoscope, you will see a message saying that Caryoscope is requesting privileged access to your computer, for example:

This message appears because Caryoscope, while a valid and safe application, has not yet been registed with a Certificate Authority. Please grant Caryoscope the access it needs by clicking the "Start" button. Caryoscope needs access to your system to:

  1. Read GFF data files from your hard disk; and

  2. Save your preferences to a file for future Caryoscope sessions.

You should then see an empty Caryoscope main window:
